The City is seeking an experienced and motivated fire service professional for the temporary full-time position of Assistant Fire Chief – Fire Prevention & Administration. This temporary appointment is for one year, with the possibility of extension.
Reporting to the Fire Chief, this position offers a fire service professional a valuable career development opportunity to build leadership experience in a fire services environment. The successful candidate will join a progressive composite fire department and help deliver high-quality fire and life safety services to the community.

CHIEF BUILDING INSPECTOR
The Chief Building Inspector is responsible for the administration, interpretation and enforcement of the BC Building Code and municipal regulations and bylaws. This is technical work of an inspectional and regulatory nature, involving the inspection of building operations of all types and occupancies to ensure that construction, conversion, repairs, alterations, demolitions and additions to buildings comply with applicable requirements.
The Chief Building Inspector ensures that the objectives of structural safety, fire safety, health, accessibility and the protection of buildings are addressed prior to occupancy; examines for approval or rejection, plans and specifications submitted in compliance with statutory provisions, standards, procedures and bylaw; and issues plumbing, building and sign permits.

ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGIST ll
Reporting to the Manager of Infrastructure, this is a technical position requiring both office and field assignments related to municipal civil engineering. Work involves civil engineering design and drafting of municipal infrastructure including roads, drainage, water and sewer utilities, parks, building and traffic facilities, inspection of works, hydraulic modeling, estimating, assisting with budgets, tendering and cost control of capital projects. This position may act as a project lead for moderately sized municipal capital projects.
