
Property Taxes
The value of your property as assessed by the BC Assessment Authority, is multiplied by the tax rates set by each of the taxing jurisdictions to determine your property taxes. Questions related to your property assessment should be referred to BC Assessment Authority office at 900-5800 Turner Rd, Nanaimo, V9T 6J4 or 1 866 825-8322.
PROPERTY TAXES 2026
2026 property tax notices will be mailed in May. If you do not receive your 2026 tax notice by June 8, call 250 248-6144 or email cashier@parksville.ca. Property taxes are due July 2, 2026. A 5% penalty will be applied to all outstanding current year property taxes, including the portion related to any unclaimed homeowner grant, after July 2, 2026. An additional 5% penalty will be applied after September 15, 2026.

HOMEOWNER GRANT
Homeowner grants must be claimed each year you are eligible with the Province of BC or use the Online Services tab link. Apply by July 2, 2026, to avoid a penalty. The deadline to claim a retroactive homeowner grant for 2025 (subject to qualifications) is December 31, 2026.
To qualify for the homeowner grant, you must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident of Canada, live in BC, and currently occupy the residence as your principal residence.
Municipalities do not accept retroactive or current year homeowner grant applications. To avoid penalties and interest, apply before the tax penalty date; payment is not required to claim the grant. For eligibility requirements and more information, visit gov.bc.ca/homeownergrant
The following information is required to complete the homeowner grant application:
- Jurisdiction number for the City of Parksville 559
- Roll number as shown on the property tax notice
- Social Insurance Number
PROVINCE OF BC PROPERTY TAX DEFERMENT PROGRAM
The Property Tax Deferment Program is a low interest loan program that helps qualified BC homeowners pay their annual property taxes on their principal residence. You may qualify if you are 55 or older during the current year, a person with disabilities, or a family supporting children in certain circumstances. All deferment applications and renewals are administered by the Province of BC using the Tax Deferment Program website. Unpaid taxes, utilities, penalties, and interest from prior years must be paid to the City to be eligible to defer current year taxes. Residents must apply for their homeowner grant each year. Deadline to defer 2026 property taxes is December 31, 2026. Questions should be directed to 1 888 355-2700 or refer to website.
TAX CERTIFICATES
City of Parksville tax certificates can be obtained through API Canada using a credit card or through myLTSA using a Land Titles account.
