Parks, Beaches and Public Spaces

The City of Parksville is home to some of the most beautiful parks, trails and beaches in North America. These spaces are an important element in the quality of life in the region, providing green spaces, playgrounds, outdoor recreation facilities and natural environments.

Whether you’re looking to spend the day at one of our near perfect sandy beaches at Parksville Bay or Rathtrevor Beach Provincial Park, adventure and fun at Lions Ventureland Playground in Parksville Community Park, a picnic in one our many neighbourhood parks, or a riverside walk through the west coast forest at Top Bridge Park, there’s something for everyone in Parksville.

Our parks, trails and beaches are public spaces for all to enjoy. We ask that you please be respectful of your surroundings and other park users.

Community Park Master Plan
The Community Park Master Plan was completed by the Mount Arrowsmith Biosphere Region Research Institute at Vancouver Island University and by the students and faculty at Vancouver Island University in 2017. The updated plan conforms to the 2013 Parksville Official Community Plan and City policies and bylaws. In 2018, Council approved implementation of the Community Park Master Plan with revised priorities. The master plan and implementation strategy may be viewed here.

Parks, Trails and Open Spaces Master Plan
In 2019, the Mount Arrowsmith Biosphere Region Research Institute and Vancouver Island University, Master of Community Planning Program students, presented the Parks, Trails and Open Space Master Plan to Council for approval. Presentations and the plan may be viewed here.
