With a population of 12,500 (2016 Census), Parksville is an active and steadily growing community of active retirees, urban professionals, and young families who have chosen to live in Parksville because of the quality life and the region's natural and developed amenities. Parksville's main industries are tourism, retail, services, construction and light industry. Centrally located on the east coast of Vancouver Island, 145 km north of Victoria and 35 km north of Nanaimo, our community enjoys a skilled and educated labour force.
Our award winning Parksville Civic and Technology Centre is home to the City of Parksville, the Vancouver Island Regional Library, School District 69 offices, and Vancouver Island University, Parksville/Qualicum Campus. The Parksville Community Centre, Oceanside Place twin arena multiplex, the industrial park, and development initiatives are examples of efforts to enhance the local business climate.
