PUBLIC NOTICE
First Reading of "Zoning and Development Amendment Bylaw, 2024, No. 2000.148"

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, pursuant to Sections 464(3) and 464(4) of the Local Government Act, that the City of Parksville is prohibited by the province of British Columbia from holding a public hearing in relation to “Zoning and Development Amendment Bylaw, 2024, No. 2000.148."

AND NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, pursuant to Section 464(2) of the Local Government Act, that the City will not be holding a public hearing in relation to those portions of “Zoning and Development Amendment Bylaw, 2024, No. 2000.148" not covered by Sections 464(3) and 464(4) of the Local Government Act.

AND NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, pursuant to Section 467 of the Local Government Act, that the Council of the City of Parksville will, on Monday, June 17, 2024, at 1 pm in the Parksville Civic and Technology Centre, 100 Jensen Avenue East, Parksville, BC, consider first reading of the following bylaw:

"Zoning and Development Amendment Bylaw, 2024, No. 2000.148" proposes to
amend "City of Parksville Zoning and Development Bylaw, 1994, No. 2000."

In general terms, the purpose of the proposed bylaw is to amend the City’s Zoning and Development Bylaw to align with provincial regulations enacted though Bill 44 - Housing Statutes (Residential Development) Amendment Act, 2023 for Small-Scale, Multi-Unit Housing (SSMUH) of up to four housing units within provincially defined restricted residential zones. As well, general housekeeping, definition additions, and updates are proposed, along with adjustments to secondary suites, parking, setback, height, minimum parcel size and general regulations. Lands in the City within the following zoning districts may be affected: RS-1, RS-2, RS-3, MH-1, A-1, C-3, CD-6, CD-14, CD-16B, CD-17, CD-18, CD-20, CD-35, SLR-1, CTX-1, RSC-3, NC-1, and RHD-4.

INSPECTION OF PROPOSED BYLAW AND RELATED MATERIALS
A copy of the proposed bylaw and documents are available for viewing from Thursday, May 23, 2024, to and including Monday, June 17, 2024, on the City's website using this link.

Copies of the documents may be viewed in person at the planning department or requested by email at planning@parksville.ca.

Any person wishing to provide written comment to Council regarding the proposed bylaw should submit it to the attention of Mayor and Council, care of the City Administration department:

Pursuant to Section 127 of the Community Charter and "Council Procedure Bylaw, 2018, No. 1541" a schedule of dates, times and places of City of Parksville regular municipal Council meetings for the year 2024 is posted on the City notice board at the Parksville Civic and Technology Centre, 100 Jensen Avenue East, Parksville for viewing during regular office hours, Monday to Friday, excluding statutory holidays.
