NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

Notice is hereby given that a Public Hearing will be held by the Council of the City of Parksville on Monday, May 7, 2018, at 6 pm in the Parksville Civic and Technology Centre, 100 Jensen Avenue East, Parksville, BC to consider public representations on the following bylaw:

"ZONING AND DEVELOPMENT AMENDMENT BYLAW, 2018, NO. 2000.114"
proposes to amend "City of Parksville Zoning and Development Bylaw, 1994, No. 2000"

In general terms the purpose of the proposed amendment is to temporarily prohibit non-medicinal cannabis related activities in the City of Parksville. This interim measure will allow Council to design a regulatory framework for the City that takes into consideration the results of the recent public engagement survey and recommendations from staff on a tailored approach to cannabis legalization.

INSPECTION OF PROPOSED BYLAW AND RELATED MATERIALS

A copy of the proposed bylaw and documents may be inspected at the planning department, Parksville Civic and Technology Centre, 100 Jensen Avenue East, Parksville, BC during regular office hours (8 am to 4 pm) weekdays, excluding statutory holidays, from Thursday, April 5, 2018, to and including Monday, May 7, 2018.

CONDUCT OF HEARING

At the Hearing, the public will be allowed to make representations to City Council respecting matters contained in the proposed bylaw and all persons who believe their interest in property is affected by the proposed bylaw shall be afforded a reasonable opportunity to be heard or to present written submissions respecting matters contained in the bylaw.

PROPOSED BUSINESS LICENCE AMENDMENT

The Council of the City of Parksville hereby gives notice, in accordance with Section 59 of the Community Charter Act of BC, of an opportunity for citizens and businesses to make representation to Council with respect to the proposed "Business Licence Amendment Bylaw, 2018, No. 1483.2".

The purpose of the amendment is to temporarily prohibit non-medicinal cannabis related activities in the City of Parksville. This interim measure will allow Council to design a regulatory framework for the City that takes into consideration the results of the recent public engagement survey and recommendations from staff on a tailored approach to cannabis legalization.

Representations may be in writing, via email or as a delegation before Council at the open Council meeting to be held on Monday, May 7, 2018, at 6 pm in the Forum at Parksville Civic and Technology Center, 100 Jensen Avenue East, Parksville, BC.

Persons wishing to make representation in writing or to appear as a delegation before Council must have their submission received at the City of Parksville's Administration Department, 100 Jensen Avenue East by noon on Wednesday, April 25, 2018.

2018 COUNCIL MEETING DATES

Pursuant to Section 127 of the Community Charter and "Procedure Bylaw, 2012, No. 1477" a schedule of dates, times and places of City of Parksville regular municipal Council and Committee meetings for the year 2018 is posted on the City notice board at the Civic and Technology Centre, 100 Jensen Avenue East, Parksville BC, for viewing during regular office hours of 8 am to 4 pm, Monday to Friday, excluding statutory holidays. The meeting schedule may also be viewed on the City website at www.parksville.ca.
