SIDEWALK WORK ON ISLAND HIGHWAY EAST
AND WELD STREET
We wish to advise residents and businesses of our intended street work along the 100 block Island Highway East and Weld Street. The City will remove a total of three trees on the Island Highway East and no trees will be removed on Weld Street.
Located within the City sidewalks, the tree roots have lifted the sidewalk panels and have the potential to cause liability risks such as tripping hazards. It is necessary to remove the trees and resurface the sidewalk within our allowed budget. This work will create a safer walking surface for pedestrians.
The work which is weather dependent is scheduled to begin on February 20 and is expected to take about two weeks to complete. Please direct questions to the operations department at 250 248-5412.
WATER MAIN FLUSHING TO START FEBRUARY 14
The City’s annual water main flushing program will begin on February 14 and run through the first week in April. Flushing is an important part of our ongoing maintenance program to ensure the integrity of the water supply system.
Flushing will generally take place between the hours of 7 am and 3:30 pm, Monday to Friday.
During these times, customers can expect some discolouration of water and intermittent drops in water pressure. Please follow these guidelines during the water main flushing program:
Please direct questions to 250 248-5412.
- Keep a fresh supply of drinking water in your refrigerator.
- Check for discolouration of water before doing laundry.
- If your water is discoloured, run an outside tap (after 3:30 pm) until the water clears
