SPECIAL EVENTS APPLICATION PROCEDURES

The City of Parksville invites applications from community organizations and private citizens wishing to hold special events at a variety of City-owned venues.
  • Parksville Civic and Technology Centre grounds at 100 Jensen Avenue East
  • Parksville Community Park
    • Picnic shelter
    • Waterfront Walkway gazebo
    • Beach volleyball courts
    • Kite field
    • Skateboard Park
  • Springwood Park
  • Foster Park (gazebo)
  • Off Leash Dog Park (Despard Avenue)
  • Individual City green spaces
  • City streets for walks, marathons, cycling events and/or parades

Interested parties may obtain copies of the City's special events policy and relevant application forms from the Department of Engineering and Operations at 1116 Herring Gull Way, from City Hall at 100 Jensen Avenue East or downloaded from the City's website at http://parksville.ca/cms.asp?wpID=133.

Applications for events to be held in 2015 will be accepted starting January 1, 2015, and the review process will begin January 31, 2015. As per policy, where conflicting dates occur, annual events will be given priority provided the request is received no later than the January 31 deadline, after which date the application will be addressed on the same basis as first time events. First time events will be handled on a first come, first served basis depending on venue availability.

Special event applications received after January 31 must be submitted at least 30 days prior to the event date and will be subject to the same terms and conditions as those applications received prior to January 31.

DEVELOPMENT VARIANCE PERMIT NOTICES - RIDGEFIELD DRIVE

Municipal Council intends to consider whether to issue a Development Variance Permit during the regular meeting of Council, to be held Wednesday, August 3, 2016 at 6 pm at the Parksville Civic and Technology Centre, 100 Jensen Avenue East, Parksville, BC.

The general intent of the Development Variance Permit, if approved, is to relax the maximum height requirements for a fence and retaining wall.

Specifically, the maximum combined fence and retaining wall height permitted under Section 501.1 (f) of the “City of Parksville Zoning and Development Bylaw 1994, No. 2000” is proposed to be relaxed from 2.0 metres to 2.8 metres within the south-easterly interior lot line setback area of the subject property commencing 10.5 metres back from the front lot line.

The Development Variance Permit, if approved, will apply to the subject properties at 467, 473, 479, 485, 491, 497 and 503 Ridgefield Drive, Parksville, BC.

DEVELOPMENT VARIANCE PERMIT NOTICE - SANDERSON ROAD

Municipal Council intends to consider whether to issue a Development Variance Permit during the regular meeting of Council, to be held Wednesday, August 3, 2016 at 6 pm at the Parksville Civic and Technology Centre, 100 Jensen Avenue East, Parksville, BC.

The general intent of the Development Variance Permit, if approved, is to relax the minimum setback from the top of slope for the existing siting of a deck and stairs and, in the case of the stairs, relax the minimum setback from the natural boundary of the sea.

Specifically, the minimum setback requirements under Section 616 (a) of the "City of Parksville Zoning and Development Bylaw, 1994, No. 2000" is proposed to be relaxed for the existing siting of a deck and stairs, from 7.5 metres to 0 metres from the top of slope and, in the case of the stairs, from 15.0 metres to 7.5 metres from the present natural boundary of the sea.

The Development Variance Permit, if approved, will apply to the subject property at 651 Sanderson Road.
