Parks, Trails and Beaches
The beach, parks and trails are an important element in the quality of life in Parksville.
There's a reason Parksville is known as Canada's Riviera. Few beaches outside Mexico and the Caribbean compare with our kilometres of near perfect sandy beaches at Parksville Bay and Rathtrevor Beach Provincial Park. With long sunny days, water temperatures may be as high as 20°C in the shallows and the flat beaches are safe for everyone in the family, even at high tide. There's plenty of space for barefoot jogging, beach volleyball, impromptu yoga sessions, sunbathing and fun in the sun.
Please help us keep our parks clean, safe and welcoming for everyone by following a few simple guidelines:
- Do not litter. The City provides trash and recycling receptacles throughout most parks.
- Do not pick flowers or otherwise disturb or damage the plants, trees and shrubs in parks.
- Ensure that your dog is under control at all times, and please pick up dog waste. The City has installed dog waste bag dispensers in our parks.
- Do not consume alcohol. There is a zero-tolerance alcohol policy in effect in all City parks.
- Be considerate of others. Our parks are public spaces for everyone to enjoy, so please be respectful of all other park users.
