McMillan Street Upgrade
|On May 30, 2012, McMillan Street was officially opened. Parksville Mayor and Council were joined by staff from Windley Contracting and Koers Engineering, ICBC representative and clients from the Parksville and District Association for Community Living.

On August 10, 2011, the City hosted an information session for local businesses and residents. City and contracting staff were on hand to answer questions about the project. The information presented at the open house is available here:
The McMillan Street upgrade project involved reconstruction, widening and upgrading of roadway along McMillan Street, from Island Highway 19A West, south through the Hirst Avenue intersection. The project included significant safety improvements for vehicles, bicyclists and pedestrians, as well as undergrounding of overhead utility lines and streetscape amenities. Some of the project's key features included two pedestrian signals, wide sidewalks, bike lanes, decorative street lights, street trees and a new traffic signal at the Hirst Avenue intersection.
