Running for Council
To be eligible as a candidate in a local government election, at the time of nomination, you must:
- Be a Canadian citizen; AND
- Be, or will be, 18 years of age or older (October 20, 2000) on or before general voting day; AND
- Have lived in BC for at least 6 months (March 13, 2018, is the last day to meet 6 month residency requirement for candidates); AND
- Have not been disqualified by any law or statute from being nominated, elected or holding office.
There is no requirement for a candidate to be a resident or own property in the municipality.
A nomination package may be picked up at the Administration Offices of the City of Parksville during regular office hours (8 am to 4 pm, Monday to Friday excluding statutory holidays), from 9 am on Friday,
July 27, 2018, to 4 pm on Friday, September 14, 2018.
Nomination papers must be filed with the Chief Election Officer (250 954-4660) or the Deputy Chief Election Officer (250 954-3070), at the administration offices of the City of Parksville, during regular office hours
(8 am to 4 pm excluding statutory holidays), commencing at 9 am on Tuesday, September 4, 2018, until 4 pm on Friday, September 14, 2018. Appointments are recommended.
Nomination documents may be delivered by hand, mail, fax or other delivery service. Originals of faxed nomination documents must be received by the Chief Election Officer by 4 pm on September 21, 2018, or the nomination is deemed to be withdrawn.
